MANAGEMENT TEAM

Mr. Holzgrefe is Saia's President and Chief Executive Officer, responsible for managing the overall strategy and direction of the company. He joined Saia as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2014 and transitioned to the role of President and Chief Operating Officer in January 2019. He is also a member of the Board of Directors.

Before coming to the company, Mr. Holzgrefe served as the Vice President of Business Development for a Georgia subsidiary of one of the world's leading agricultural processors. Prior to that, he served as their Vice President and CFO. His experience also includes tenure in food and technology industries as well as stints in banking and financial advisory services.

Mr. Holzgrefe holds a master’s degree in business from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Notre Dame.

In addition to serving as Saia’s Chief Customer Officer, a position he assumed in 2015, Mr. Ramu was named an Executive Vice President of the company in 2017. In this role, he is responsible for strategic direction and managing the total customer relationship to improve satisfaction in addition to building customer loyalty, revenue growth and profitability. He works to collaboratively engage all departments to improve the customer experience, but has functional responsibility for sales, marketing and customer service.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Ramu had been serving as Saia’s Vice President of Sales, Eastern Division, since 2008. In this capacity, he led a team of more than 170 sales professionals in matching Saia’s services and products to individual customer needs.

Mr. Ramu's career in freight began when he was just 20 years old when he started working for a regional less-than-truckload carrier on Long Island, New York. He holds a bachelor's degree in logistics management from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska.

Mr. Batteh is Saia’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. In this position, he leads the company’s finance, pricing, accounting, and treasury functions, and works with other key members of the management team to execute Saia’s long-term vision.

Mr. Batteh has been with Saia since 2015, most recently serving as the Vice President of Finance. From 2020 to 2023, he served as Saia’s Vice President of Pricing and Analytics, after working in a variety of pricing and financial analysis roles. Before joining Saia, Mr. Batteh started his career at a large transportation and logistics provider, working in planning, pricing, and operations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Auburn University and a master’s degree in business administration from Emory University.

Mr. Sugar is Saia’s Executive Vice President of Operations. He joined the company in 2016 after a career in engineering and operations management at a leading packaged goods company.

He had been serving as Saia’s Vice President of Linehaul and Industrial Engineering, a role in which he successfully led the development and implementation of several key technologies and played a key part in the planning and operational execution of the company’s strategic plan for the last several years.

Mr. Sugar works directly with Saia's President and Chief Executive Officer as well as the company’s entire executive and field leadership teams overseeing the operation of all divisions, regions and facilities with regard to personnel management, budgeting, equipment readiness, regulatory compliance and business development.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering from Georgia Tech.

Mr. Norwood is Saia’s Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. In this position, he leads all aspects of human resources (HR) at the company developing Saia’s human capital strategy and directing the execution of strategies and tactics to expand our organizational capability. In addition, he is responsible for ensuring that Saia’s people strategy supports the recruitment, development, and retention of our industry leading team.

Before joining Saia, Mr. Norwood served as the Vice President of HR - Corporate for a leading diversified manufacturing company and global climate innovator. Prior to this, he served in various HR executive roles at other well-known entities.

Mr. Norwood possesses a bachelor’s degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University and a master’s degree in global HR leadership from Rutgers University.

Along with serving as the company’s Chief Information Officer, a role he assumed in 2017, Mr. Lal has been named one of Saia’s Executive Vice Presidents. In his position, he is responsible for ensuring that Saia's information technology (IT) enables and supports the company's key business objectives in advanced analytics, deployment and optimization of technology and expansion, and cybersecurity.

Before joining Saia, Mr. Lal spent nearly 20 years in IT within the manufacturing and distribution sector. Most recently, he had served as the IT Architecture Director, with responsibility for technology strategy, for a division of one of the world’s leading soft drink manufacturers. Prior to this, he served as the managing principal for an IT consulting company helping businesses implement supply chain solutions.

Mr. Lal possesses a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India.

Ms. Benton is Saia’s Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer, providing leadership of the company’s accounting functions in addition to partnering with other members of the Saia executive team to deliver strategic leadership and critical oversight of all business operations.

Prior to joining Saia, Ms. Benton spent nearly 20 years in leadership roles at both a prominent corporation within the petroleum/gas and convenience store industry as well as at one of the foremost providers of professional services with regard to assurance, taxes, transactions, and more.

Ms. Benton possesses a bachelor's degree in accounting from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She is a certified public accountant.
